Scion Teams with Fellow Japanese Automakers in Development of New Model

Scion and its parent company Toyota have teamed with fellow Japanese automaker, Subaru in the development of a new rear-wheel drive coupe platform, and everyone at KC Summers is quite thrilled. Under the Subaru badge, this new model will be known as the BRZ. Meanwhile, Toyota and Scion will both be releasing their own variants as well. The Toyota version is known as the FT-86, while the Scion model is called the FR-S.

Yeah, yeah, we know. The names are a tab bit confusing. What isn't confusing, however, are the vehicles' incredible specs. Whether you opt in for the Sooby, Toyota, or Scion variant, you're in for 200 horsepower (hp) and 151 lb.-ft. of torque, a quality FA-series boxter engine, a Toyota direct-injection fuel system, and either a Aisin six-speed, three-pedal manual or conventional automatic transmission.

What sets the Scion variant apart from its sibling models then? The exterior styling. The Scion FR-S features an open-front fascia, a unique set-back honeycomb grille, and a true low-rider stance. In other words, it has more of a street racer feel than the other two models.

Scion has said that the 2013 FR-S will be debuting in the spring at dealerships nationwide, so make sure to stay tuned for more info. In the meantime, however, you can learn more about the current new Scion lineup that we carry here at 117 S 19th St Mattoon, IL 61938 simply by contacting us online or by phone at (877) 734-3720.
