That's why we were so pleased to hear that Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian division of Toyota, was planning to bring vehicles to the South African market in 2012.

More specifically, TKM will be bringing the Etios, a vehicle lineup that consists of the the Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva to the South African market. The model is currently produced at the company's Bidadi plant, which is located just outside Bangalore. Because of this latest initiative, the plant's production capacity is actually seeing an increase from 160,000 to 310,000 by the end of 2013.

"We are convinced that the Etios will be successful in delivering Toyota's promise of quality in South Africa too," TKM's Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa said.¹

To ensure that the Japanese automaker's first entry into the South African market is a successful one, they're changing nothing about the already popular Etios, save for a new minor technical changes that must be made in order to abide by the country's regulations. "Exporting the Etios to South Africa would also mean showcasing the advanced technology and superior quality features that have been developed by Toyota for Etios," Nakagawa explained.²
